Private beta

Available now

These capabilities describe the personal coaching beta. Availability depends on the installed build, your access and any optional device permissions.

01

Athlete foundation

One personal onboarding path, searchable training activities, goals, constraints, dated previous personal bests and all the equipment you have, including custom items.

Implemented
02

Daily coaching

Morning and evening check-ins, one current readiness conclusion, one conversational coaching brief and the next useful action.

Implemented
03

Personal readiness and recovery intelligence

Standard athletes receive a conclusion-first daily state—train as planned, reduce the dose, make recovery the work, rest, match day or review symptoms—using their own recorded pattern rather than a population target. Manual check-ins, connected sleep, resting heart rate and heart-rate variability retain source and time, stale or missing evidence stays neutral, and positive signals never add bonus training. Today, Train, Calendar, Alan and the paired watch use the same dated decision.

Implemented
04

Programme and workouts

A visible six-week training block with an actionable 14-day programme, original purpose versus current plan, Strength A/B/C rotation, live workout execution and history.

Implemented
05

Existing programme handover

Established athletes can bring a one- to eight-week programme into the mobile beta through short day-by-day and exercise-by-exercise steps. Exercise order, sets, repetitions or time, intended load, effort, rest, equipment and notes enter the same guided-workout record as Coach Alan sessions. Unscheduled cycle days remain rest, equipment remains a hard constraint and every edit creates a reversible version without rewriting completed history. Coach Alan observes first; Standard and Plus athletes can receive evidence-led improvement proposals only after at least two weeks and two comparable completed sessions.

Implemented
06

Real-life programme control

Athletes can move, cancel, shorten or declare limited equipment for one exact date through short review-first steps. One-date changes expire after that date, permanent weekly changes remain deliberate, missed sessions stay truthful, and started or completed workout evidence cannot be rewritten. Programme, Train, Today and Alan are reconciled from the same accepted schedule.

Implemented
07

Flexible workouts and gym-floor execution

Standard athletes can build one exact-date workout through short staged pages, reuse a saved personal workout, or add deliberate work without rewriting the repeating programme. Working, warm-up, back-off, drop, AMRAP, timed and distance sets are supported alongside supersets and circuits. Warm-up and plate calculations remain practical tools; every exercise still passes current equipment and injury restrictions and the accepted guided logger remains the only workout record.

Implemented
08

Progress intelligence

Personal records, evidence provenance, hold-to-inspect charts, 7- and 28-day training balance, strongest signal and next focus.

Implemented
09

Personal evidence plans

Athletes can choose one performance measure that matters to them, save an exact repeatable protocol, schedule a baseline or retest for one date and record the result through a short mobile flow. Coach Alan compares results only when the exercise or measure, unit, equipment, load meaning, distance, duration and declared conditions still match. Match-day, readiness, injury and equipment restrictions remain authoritative; a test never permanently overwrites the normal week, and any programme change remains a separate athlete-approved decision.

Implemented
10

Bounded adaptation

Athletes can choose review-first or automatic bounded adaptation. Safety, competition and structural changes remain constrained.

Implemented
11

Weekly coaching review and programme decisions

Every athlete can open a concise conclusion-first review of planned versus completed work, evidence confidence and the next-week commitments that matter. Standard athletes can inspect one exact current-to-proposed programme change at a time, then approve it, edit it, keep the current plan or decide later. Accepted changes use the existing bounded adaptation record, affect only eligible future unstarted work and remain reversible; Plus can also prepare a coach-ready summary.

Implemented
12

Adaptive training blocks

A deterministic six-week block shows intended versus delivered sessions, minutes, sets and repetitions; weekly direction; the next progression, hold, consolidation, substitution, reduction, deload, retest or rebalance decision; evidence quality; and an end-of-block review.

Implemented
13

Goal pathway and season intelligence

The mobile beta connects a dated primary goal to a 12–24 week roadmap, current block, week and next session. Athletes can prioritise events, declare planned interruptions, preview future changes without rewriting the programme, inspect predicted session demand and see evidence requirements for the next progression rung.

Implemented
14

Athlete usability and programme validity

Equipment and location are deterministic hard constraints across generation, adaptation and substitution. Workouts provide in-app text guides using the exercise record, first-use help is short and reopenable, and Profile is a concise summary hub with focused editors for goals, schedule, access and dated PBs.

Implemented
15

Exercise mastery and intelligent substitution

Every prescribed movement keeps one canonical exercise identity, its purpose in today’s session, equipment requirement, setup, technique, coaching cues, common mistakes and honest media status. The private beta includes 34 original offline movement schematics, with useful text guidance where no verified visual exists. Athletes can record how confident they feel, choose a reason for changing an exercise and select only validated alternatives that respect equipment, injury and readiness constraints. A today-only change does not rewrite future programming; an explicit future preference affects only later unstarted sessions.

Implemented
16

Training response and adaptive progression

Standard athletes receive a short planned-versus-actual review after a completed workout, followed by a truthful next-exposure recommendation for each comparable exercise. Exact load meaning and the athlete’s real equipment increment stay attached to the evidence; milestones use measured working sets rather than invented one-rep maximums. Plateaus, time away, corrections and excluded outliers are handled conservatively. Any future programme change remains previewable and reversible through the existing bounded adaptation controls, while completed sessions remain immutable.

Implemented
17

Connected workout evidence and continuity

Completed workouts from Apple Health and Health Connect can be reviewed against the exact dated programme before they become Coach Alan evidence. Duplicate sessions are reconciled deterministically, ambiguous matches require athlete confirmation, generic device records never invent exercises or sets, and export uses a separate optional permission. An active guided workout can keep the current exercise, set or rest state visible through the supported iOS Live Activity or Android ongoing notification while the app remains the source of truth.

Implemented
18

Watch workout control

Standard athletes can use a paired Apple Watch or Wear OS watch to follow the current guided exercise, see genuine targets and recent comparable performance, log or skip the current set, run the prescribed rest, pause or resume and move on only when ready. Watch commands update the same workout record as the phone, retain stable exercise and set identities, queue safely when the phone is temporarily unreachable and cannot create a second parallel workout.

Implemented
19

Closed-beta Standard access

Invited athlete testers receive Standard access during the closed beta through a server-owned entitlement. The app cannot grant its own plan, and paid or administrative authority is not overwritten.

Implemented
20

Progression safety

Sparse, stale, conflicting or implausible evidence stays visible and blocks positive automatic progression. Active injury and concerning symptoms remain authoritative safety constraints.

01

Workout Voice Mode

Not available in the current beta. The intended Standard and Plus experience is a deliberately enabled voice layer for active guided workouts: local “Coach Alan” activation where technically reliable, spoken set logging and corrections, rest cues, and locked-screen operation within legitimate iOS and Android limits. Unrelated gym conversation must not be continuously streamed to a cloud service.

Safety boundary

Coaching support.
Not medical clearance.

Coach Alan can reduce or pause training when evidence raises concern. It does not diagnose illness or injury, and a positive readiness state is never presented as medical clearance.
